This document specifies the basic characteristics that are measured on a sample of specially designed powder nanoparticles to determine size, chemical composition and surface area. This document also defines the measurement methods for determining each of these characteristics.
It aims to facilitate agreement between consumers, regulators and industries about the required characteristics.
It does not cover specific industrial application characteristics of nanoparticles in powder form and detailed measurement protocols, as well as health, safety and environmental characteristics.
