In 2023, the European Patent Office (EPO) granted over 2,700 nanotechnology patents, representing nearly 30% of the USPTO's total for that year. The United States is the leader with 801 patents, followed by Germany and France. Three East Asian countries, South Korea, Japan and China, are also among the top patent filing countries.
