Top 10 Countries by USPTO Nanotechnology Patents in 2023

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued more than 9400 patents in 2023, with almost 50 percent of them going to the United States. The following five countries are all from Asia. South Korea ranks second in patent applications in the USPTO. China, Taiwan, and Japan come after, and Saudi Arabia is in the sixth position. Saudi Arabia has shown a lot of interest in nanotechnology in the last few years, and in 2023, nearly one-fifth of all patents registered in the USPTO by Saudi Arabia were nano-related patents. Taiwan is the runner-up in this aspect with a 5.3 percent share.
