Top 20 Countries by EPO Nanotechnology Patents in 2022

The figure indicates the list of top 20 countries publishing nanotechnology-related patents in European Registration Office (EPO). As the figure implies, the United States owns the largest number of patents (30% of all nanotechnology-related ones) in EPO. Germany, Japan, and South Korea stand in the next ranks. When comparing the share of the number of nanotechnology-related patents to patents registered by each country (local share of nanotechnology), Saudi Arabia and South Korea hold ranks 1st and 2nd, respectively.
