Horizon 2020 Projects Series: SUSNANOFAB Open Access Digital Platform Promotes Sustainable Nanofabrication

As an Open Access Digital Platform, the SUSNANOFAB provides the users active in the field of nanofabrication with a robust, supportive network for accessing to services, infrastructures, and expertise.

Coordinated by RINA CONSULTING SPA, the SUSNANOFAB project is developing an Open Access Digital Platform interoperates with current platforms, projects, and other initiatives for the promotion of competitive and sustainable nanofabrication industry.

Horizon 2020 makes available an overall budget of € 2038 978,75 for this project between 1 March 2020 and 28 February 2023 to address major socio-economic challenges, from better and affordable health care to cleaner energy and transports, improved consumer goods, and higher living standards with the help of nanofabrication.

Nanofabrication enables the production of multifunctional devices with unique properties for a wide range of applications such as sensors, micro energy systems, and tissue engineering, to name but a handful.

The project is committed to delivering an EU-wide Strategic Roadmap on Nanofabrication with international cooperation activities, including nanofabrication aspects from design to manufacturing upscaling (CG1), environmental sustainability, health & ethics (CG2), and future skills & capabilities (CG3).

The SUSNANOFAB sets up a large set of training, workshop, and brokerage services fostering access to the infrastructures related to the nanomaterials field. This project promotes networking activities and the match-making between the technology providers and potential customers interactively, articulating the whole value-chain and facilitating interactions among stakeholders, as well as the centralization and harmonization of the available data, accessible to all interested parties.

This Digital Platform will present a broad spectrum of services such as the EU database with access to multiple networks, cooperation on standardization activities, the promotion of best practices, brokerage services, training services, and support activity, along with an impact assessment on strategic sectors taking also into account the COVID-19 impact.

The SUSNANOFAB project combines key areas of expertise in nanofabrication as a consortium of ten companies and organizations from eight countries listed in the table below.
