Nanotechnology Patents: Number and Annual Growth Rate in USPTO (2001-2022)

In the last two decades, about 122,000 nanotechnology-related patents have been granted in the United States Patent Office (USPTO), the largest patent office in the world. This is more than three times of the number of EPO nanotechnology-related patents. The average annual growth of nanotechnology-related patents in USPTO has been 10.2%. The highest growth of 43.5% was observed in 2010. By skipping the slight drop in 2022, this trend has been fixed in the recent years.
