Sparc Technologies Reports Successful Ecosparc Field Trial Results

Sparc Technologies has announced successful initial inspection results for its ecosparc-enhanced anti-corrosion coating in a field trial at Streaky Bay Jetty, South Australia.

According to an ASX announcement on Monday, the graphene-based additive showed no signs of degradation or early failure mechanisms during the critical initial trial phase, matching the performance of the commercial benchmark coating it was compared against.

The field trial, conducted with the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport, applied both the ecosparc enhanced and unmodified coatings to equivalent steel piles in July 2024 under identical conditions.

“I’m very pleased to see the first results from field trials of an ecosparc enhanced coating which goes a long way to derisking the product for commercial use,” said Sparc Managing Director Nick O’Loughlin.

Independent laboratory testing has already simulated 25 years of real-world performance, with results showing the ecosparc enhanced coating significantly outperforming commercial benchmarks in harsh corrosive environments.

Sparc has additional field trials underway with major companies including 29Metals, Santos and BHP Mitsubishi Alliance, while also conducting confidential testing programs with major oil and gas companies in collaboration with coatings manufacturers.

The company expects commercial adoption of ecosparc enhanced products during FY26, targeting an addressable market estimated at approximately US$1 billion per annum.
