The University of Surrey and Airbus have revealed a new state-of-the-art nano-barrier vacuum-deposited coating that can be applied on spacecraft structures made of ultra-high performance carbon-fibre-reinforced-polymer (CFRP) composites to increase their robustness, crack resistivity and impart specific functionalities.
