DESCRIPTION

NanoArtography is an international science image competition that combines nanoscience and art. The competition is open to everyone. NanoArtography was created and is organized by Prof. Babak Anasori.

Every year of the competition has garnered over 100 submissions, and researchers from over 20 different countries submitted images of their research to illustrate what they are studying and showcase its beauty.

The annual submission deadline is September 30th and the winners are announced in November of that year. To learn about the rules and dates of the NanoArtography Contest, go to the rules page.

Prizes and judging:

The winners will be awarded cash prizes in U.S. dollars. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place awards and three People’s Choice awards:

1st Place: $1,000
2nd Place: $300
3rd Place: $100
People’s Choice: $500
Drexel People's Choice: $100
IUPUI People's Choice: $100

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place will be awarded based on the Judge’s choice. NanoArtography submissions are judged by a panel of experts with science, engineering, and art background. The judging will be done anonymously prior to the People's Choice posts on the NanoArtography Facebook page. Names or affiliations of the authors will not be shared with the judges until the People's Choice Facebook post.

People’s Choice will be selected as the image with the highest number of Likes on the competition Facebook page. The NanoArtography committee reserves the right to make the final decision for the People’s Choice Award.

NanoArtography was created by Dr. Anasori at the A. J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute in 2016 and expanded to Purdue School of Engineering & Technology at IUPUI in 2019. Nanoartography is organized by Dr. Anasori and the Anasori Lab at IUPUI.
