ABSTRACT
This part of IEC 62607 establishes a standardized method to characterize spatially varying magnetic fields by the magnetooptical indicator film technology (MOIF). which is suitable for non-destructive, high througput, industrial testing. Non-destructive testing and magnetic metrology have a high importance in industrial sectors for the development and production of magnetic materials and components. A central point in the characterization of magnetic materials is the quantitative stray field testing in the immediate near field range. Here, both the two-dimensional stray field profile can be measured and material defects can be identified on the basis of stray field inhomogeneities. Magneto-optical (MO) sensors and measuring systems therefore enable fast and area-based field strength measurements on magnetic or magnetizable object surfaces by means of high resolution magnetic field visualization with regard to a quantitative and geometric stray field characterization.
