ABSTRACT
This standard specifies a method for the determination of the external and internal specific surface areas of dispersed or porous (pore diameter > 2 nm) fine ceramics by measuring the amount of physically adsorbed gas according to the BET (Brunauer, Emmett, Teller) method. General guidance on the method follows ISO 9277.
This standard focuses only on the details related to fine ceramic materials. It should be noted that the BET method is not applicable to Type I thermal materials (materials with fine (< 2 nm) pores, or chemical adsorption) or powders that absorb the measured gas.
