ABSTRACT

This standard, a technical specification, covers the key control characteristics (KCC) related to the chemical, physical, structural, and electrochemical properties of electrodes (materials) enabled by nanotechnology for electrochemical capacitors. Materials covered by the guidelines include nano/nanostructured materials such as nanoporous activated carbon, graphene, carbon nanotubes, carbon black, carbon aerogels, and carbon nanomaterial-coated collectors that can be used as electrodes for electric double layer capacitors or similar capacitors. For other electrode materials for electrochemical capacitors, this standard can be used as a reference guide. Furthermore, this standard allows customers to verify and confirm the necessary characteristics of nanotechnology-enabled electrodes for electrochemical capacitors and whether they meet the following characteristics through standardized requirements and methods. The control characteristics specified in this standard are left blank and can be determined through agreement between the customer and the electrode material supplier. In addition, control characteristics that the customer or supplier deems unnecessary can be classified as “Not applicable” or “Not specified.”
