Nanotechnology — Characterization of Aerosols from Inhalation Toxicity Tests on Carbon Nanotubes and Carbon Nanofibers

This standard describes methods for characterizing carbon nanotube (CNT) and carbon nanofiber (CNF) aerosols in inhalation toxicity studies. It also provides useful information on toxicity-related characterization factors necessary for assessing the inhalation toxicity of CNT and CNF aerosols and interpreting the results. However, this standard does not provide guidance on aerosol characterization for other carbon nanomaterials, nor does it provide guidance on characterizing carbon nanotube and carbon nanofiber aerosols in workplace or ambient environments.
