NANOTECHNOLOGIES - SUPERHYDROPHOBIC SURFACES AND COATINGS: CHARACTERISTICS AND PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT

Established by adopting ISO/TS 10689:2023 Nanotechnologies — Superhydrophobic surfaces and coatings: Characteristics and performance assessment, using an identical reprinting method with the English version of ISO as the primary source. - Specifies requirements and recommendations for performance assessment methods for superhydrophobic surfaces and coatings subjected to mechanical stress, solar radiation and weathering, fluids and thermal circulation, if applicable. By agreement among stakeholders, performance assessment is performed based on comparative measurements of the advancing and descending contact angles and calculations of the hysteresis of the contact angle before and after the aforementioned operating conditions/environment. This document does not address safety and environmental issues of such coatings. - Applicable to superhydrophobic surfaces and coatings (e.g., nanostructures) for which advancing and descending contact angles can be measured.
