Established by adopting ISO/TR 16196:2016(E) Nanotechnologies — Compilation and description of sample preparation and dosing methods for engineered and manufactured nanomaterials, using the English version of ISO as the primary reference, with identical reprinting. - Provides guidance on the preparation of nanomaterials for ecological and biological toxicology testing, specifying recommendations on factors related to sample preparation and dosing that may be useful in toxicology testing, including ecological toxicology testing of engineered and manufactured nanomaterials. - Descriptions of factors and methods for sample preparation for in vitro and in vivo toxicology testing of engineered and manufactured nanomaterials, including considerations of chemical and physical properties, intermediates, methods for studying changes and accumulation of health effects, and radiation measurements. This standard is not intended to review other research or to meticulously evaluate the quality of methods or data produced. - Intended to support information with other international standards, focusing on factors that may lead to results unrelated to safety assessments. When presenting reference methods, consideration is given to general interests and applicability. It is possible that most of the methods described are applicable. While not generally applicable to all nanomaterials, it highlights important factors and limitations commonly encountered in nanomaterials.
