ABSTRACT

The technical specification describes a systematic approach to assessing the potential occupational risk of nano-objects and their agglomerates and aggregates (NOAA) that can derive from the production and use of nano-materials and / or assimilated products. This approach is a guide to identify the routes of exposure, the possible exposed body parts and the potential consequences of exposure with regard to skin absorption, local effects and accidental ingestion. The technical specification also considers the professional use of products containing NOAA by professionals such as beauticians who treat products for personal hygiene, cosmetics or pharmaceutical products, but does not apply to establish or prescribe exposure to these products by consumers. The technical specification is aimed at occupational hygienists, researchers and other safety professionals to support them in recognizing possible skin exposure and its potential consequence.
