DESCRIPTION

Two EUREKA-funded clusters are joining forces in a synchronised call for the first time for research into smart devices, including power. EURIPIDES² and PENTA are clusters in the EUREKA research programme supporting the Electronic Components and Systems (ECS) value chain. Both programmes are driven by the same technology roadmap, the ECS Strategic Research Agenda and the synchronised call in 2019 (see roadmap above) will bring together a larger cross section of the ECS community and so creating a larger innovation ecosystem. The PENTA programme is open to a wide range of companies in 2019: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey, although this does not include the UK. The projects will have access to wider national public funding resources. The projects will have a simplified funding system, with common project management processes and tools. The synchronised call will provide large enterprises, SMEs, research and technology organisations and academia with a more efficient and effective project management process, higher funding chances and an increased level of support.  “The world is changing rapidly as the digital revolution progresses, and programmes that support innovation in this area must change as well. By combining our resources as EURIPIDES² and PENTA, we can bring a dynamic new approach to meet the needs of the ECS community and the public authorities who invest in our programmes,” said Peter Connock, director of PENTA, which is managed by the AENEAS Industrial Association to catalyse research, development and innovation in areas of micro and nanoelectronics enabled systems and applications.  EURIPIDES² has a focus on Smart Electronic Systems, acting as the innovation hub for smart sensors, smart power modules, electronic hardware platforms and more generally electronic product integration and embedded systems for automotive, aeronautics and space, security, medical electronics, smart everywhere (cities, home, wearable) and industrial electronics. As a EUREKA Cluster, the network is open to participants worldwide. “In the digital world, collaboration is the key to innovation. Through this synchronised call, EURIPIDES² and PENTA, are increasing and widening international cooperation and the creation of collaborative ecosystems that connect the entire value chain,” said Jochen Langheim, chairman of EURIPIDES². www.PENTA-eureka.euwww.aeneas-office.orgwww.euripides-eureka.eu
