DESCRIPTION

Covalent Metrology Services Inc. is partnering with EDAX Inc., a business unit of AMETEK Inc., on the use of energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) for the quantified characterization of materials. Covalent selected the EDAX 70-mm Octane Elect Super EDS System with advanced APEX software, joining other recent purchases by Covalent as the company aims to build an analytical service portfolio. “EDAX is a leading provider of innovative material characterization systems,” said Craig Hunter, founder and CEO of Covalent. “We are very excited to enter into this collaboration and look forward to working closely with EDAX to further add to its capabilities and reach, and to develop new applications and promote its EDS technology.” Under the terms of the collaboration, EDAX will rely on Covalent Metrology’s California laboratory as a Silicon Valley demo center for customers interested in evaluating and potentially purchasing EDAX EDS systems. The two companies will also explore opportunities to jointly market EDAX technologies through white papers, webinars, and application notes. “Silicon Valley continues to serve as an innovation engine for advancing technology across a range of industries and applications,” said Mark Grey, global sales manager at EDAX. “Covalent Metrology is aggressively moving to build a world-class capability and become a major player in this technology space. We believe this collaboration positions us to be even more responsive to customers interested in fully evaluating our advanced EDS products.” EDAX is a provider of energy dispersive microanalysis, electron backscatter diffraction, and x-ray fluorescence instrumentation. Covalent Metrology is a provider of in-house analytical services including atomic force microscopy, nanomechanical film characterization, x-ray diffraction, x-ray reflectometry, spectral ellipsometry, various forms of profilometry and microscopy, and UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometry.
