Nanotechnology is one of six Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in the current European industrial policy. Standards are an essential element in the development of a sustainable and innovative nanotechnology industry. Hence an extensive standardization mandate M461 was given by the European Commission to CEN, CENELEC and ETSI for developing standards on nanotechnology-related topics.
