DESCRIPTION

Nanotechnology development as an emerging technology relies on a global fast growing innovation ecosystem. An innovation ecosystem is a complex network of universities, research centers, test and evaluation platforms, standard, safety and regulatory communities as well as startups, S&T parks, industrial firms and industry associations. Efficient flow of knowledge and information and various levels of interaction in such a vast ecosystem can facilitate sustainable development of nanotechnology and its applications. This is particularly important for nanotechnology as a multidisciplinary area of S&T.

One important factor affecting such ecosystem is the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in facilitation and structuring development of it. Various portals and web platform already are in place to facilitate the interactions inside innovation ecosystems in different countries and regions. However, a comprehensive virtual global nano ecosystem platform based on which a broad spectrum of players can take advantage of a wide range of provided services is not yet materialized.

This forum aims at elaborating various aspects of the mentioned ecosystem focusing on the role of ICT platforms and tools, where participants can exchange their national and international experiences in this regard.

Topics:

- Experiences and ideas regarding development of global, regional and national level nanotechnology ecosystems focusing on the role of ICT
- The role of public sector in development of nanotechnology ecosystems
- Evaluation and measurement of innovation ecosystem effectiveness
- Experiences and opportunities regarding joining and merging virtual networks at international level
- Future of virtual nanotechnology ecosystems
