ABSTRACT
This document is intended to provide information and analysis to support the development of a chemical nomenclature for the naming of "nano-objects". "Nano-objects" have been defined in XP ISO / TS 80004-1: 2013 as "materials of which one, two or all three external dimensions are at the nanoscale", the nanoscale being defined as A length scale ranging from approximately 1 nm to 100 nm. In addition, nano-objects are defined as being nanoplates, nanofibers and nanoparticles. More precisely, with regard to the nano-objects which are the subject of this document, they are discrete chemical entities rather than devices or mixtures (preparations). The nano-objects discussed in this Technical Report are not intended to constitute an exhaustive list. It is intended to facilitate communication between developers and potential users of nomenclature, including academic, industrial, government and non-government organizations.
