ABSTRACT

This standard applies to technical nanomaterials derived from inorganic or synthetic organic substances, or manufactured from biopolymers using biotechnology, and establishes general requirements for conducting toxicological and hygienic safety assessments in tests using laboratory animals (in vivo tests). A toxicological and hygienic safety assessment of a nanomaterial is conducted to quantitatively assess the risk of the nanomaterial and classify it in accordance with the UN Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
