This standard specifies the procedures and precautions to be followed when performing reproducible measurements of the quantum efficiency of luminescent nanomaterials. This method can handle nanoobjects such as quantum dots, nanophosphors, nanoparticles, nanofibers, nanocrystals, nanoplatelets, or structures containing these materials. Nanomaterials can be dispersed in liquids (e.g., colloidal dispersions of quantum dots) or solids (e.g., nanofibers containing luminescent nanoparticles). This standard covers both relative measurements of luminescent nanomaterials in liquids and absolute measurements of nanomaterials in both solid and liquid states.
