ABSTRACT

This standard describes a method for characterizing the mesoscopic shape modulus of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Techniques used include scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), viscous, and light scattering analysis. This standard also includes additional terms needed to define the characterization of static permanent length (SBPL). Typically, measurement methods are given for the evaluation of SBPL ranging from tens of nanometers to hundreds of micrometers. Well-established concepts and mathematical expressions are similar to polymer physics and are utilized in the definition of the neutralization shape factor of MWCNTs.
