ABSTRACT

This standard applies to methods for measuring the band gap energy of nanomaterials using electron energy loss data from a transmission electron microscope. The method described in this standard can be applied to estimating the band gaps of both semiconducting and insulating nanomaterials. To obtain reliable data, measurements must be performed under conditions consistent with TEM observation and sample thickness. The applicable band gap energy measurement range is 2 eV or greater.
