This document establishes a method for the experimental determination of the nanoscale release of pigments and fillers after mechanical exposure of paints, varnishes and pigmented plastics.
This method is used to assess whether and how many particles of a certain size and distribution are released under stress (type and amount of applied energy) from the surface and emitted into the environment. The samples are aged, weathering or otherwise conditioned to simulate the entire life cycle.
