ABSTRACT

Established based on ISO/TS 23650:2021 Nanotechnologies — Evaluation of the antimicrobial performance of textiles containing manufactured nanomaterials, using identical reprinting methods, primarily the English version of ISO. - Defines methods for evaluating the antimicrobial performance of textiles containing manufactured nanomaterials (TCMNMs), such as metal or metal oxide nanomaterials. Textiles covered by this standard include fabrics, yarns, and fibers where manufactured nanomaterials are incorporated during manufacturing or finishing processes. It also specifies methods for quantifying nanomaterials released from textiles during washing and/or contact with artificial perspiration. - Covers only methods for evaluating the antibacterial, antifungal, and deodorizing performance of TCMNMs. - Does not cover textiles used in therapeutics, as well as environmental, health, and safety (EHS) aspects related to TCMNMs. Furthermore, it does not cover nanomaterials released from TCMNMs as a result of aging, abrasion, and dry abrasion, even though these are considered contributing factors.
