Established by adopting ISO/TR 17302:2015(E) Nanotechnologies — Framework for identifying vocabulary development for nanotechnology applications in human healthcare, using the English version of ISO as the primary reference, with identical reprinting. - Not intended to define multiple definitions of “nanomedicine,” but to establish a taxonomic framework for the development of terminology for the clinical use of nanotechnology in human healthcare. It is understood that the origin of nanotechnology for healthcare use stems from preclinical research and application research. The interest of this standard is to examine how these technologies will impact the clinical and drug supply chain. - Aimed at facilitating communication between nanotechnology developers and users, drug distributors and users, as well as experts overseeing drug research and organizations and individuals working with these groups, including biotechnology, diagnostics and medical device companies, scientists, patent holders and patenting companies, organizational review boards, ethics review boards and accreditation bodies.
