ABSTRACT

Established by adopting ISO/TR 13014:2012(E) Nanotechnologies — Guidance on physico-chemical characterization of engineered nanoscale materials for toxicologic assessment, using the identical reprinting method with the English version of ISO as the primary reference. - Provides guidance on the physicochemical characterization of engineered nanoscale materials and nanostructured and non-aggregated nanoscale materials (NOAAs) larger than 100 nm for toxicological testing to aid in the assessment and description of the toxicological effects of engineered nanoscale materials, and allows for variation between materials under test and those of the same material. For each selected characteristic, the description, clarity, relevance, required quantification, and example measurement methods are provided in this standard. - Useful for stakeholders (e.g., toxicologists, ecologists, regulatory bodies, health and safety professionals) interested in assessing and describing the potential toxicological effects of engineered nanoscale NOAAs.
