THE INSTITUTEIEEE is seeking article submissions for its new gold fully open access journals.

Gold open access refers to articles being made open access through the payment of a fee—called an article processing charge (APC)—by the author.

The new journals will be fully open access and will publish articles within the specialized field of interest of the sponsoring society. With these journals, the organization is committed to helping further scientific research and supporting accessibility to technological information.

As a news release announcing the call for papers explains: Each open access journal follows IEEE’s established high standard of peer review, drawing on its expert technical communities to continue to publish the most highly cited content in numerous technology fields. All the new open access journals will be fully compliant with current major funder mandates, including use of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY) enabling authors to retain copyright.

“This call for papers marks a unique opportunity for authors to benefit from the visibility each journal’s launch will generate, and their published papers will be exposed to 5 million unique monthly users of the IEEE Xplore Digital Library,” Stephen Welby, IEEE executive director and chief operating officer, says in the release.

The titles of the journals are:

IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and PropagationIEEE Open Journal of Circuits and SystemsIEEE Open Journal of the Communications SocietyIEEE Open Journal of the Computer SocietyIEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and BiologyIEEE Open Journal of Industry ApplicationsIEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics SocietyIEEE Open Journal of Intelligent Transportation SystemsIEEE Open Journal of NanotechnologyIEEE Open Journal of Power ElectronicsIEEE Open Journal of Signal ProcessingIEEE Open Journal of Solid-State CircuitsIEEE Open Journal of Vehicular Technology

IEEE Access, IEEE’s multidisciplinary open access journal, has launched discipline-specific sections aligned with the following IEEE societies: Broadcast Technology, Electronics Packaging, Photonics, Reliability, Engineering in Medicine and Biology, and Power & Energy.

IEEE will also be transitioning the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing to a fully open access title in 2020. In addition, the IEEE Power and Energy Technology Systems Journal will become the IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy in January 2020.

Information on how to submit a technical paper for consideration, including the journals’ submission deadlines, is available at open.ieee.org.
