Summary:

Recently, professor Kang's group focus on the limitation of quantum confine band offset model, the hole states delocalization in high-Al-content AlGaN quantum well are understood in terms of orbital intercoupling. The potential barriers of different orbitals were investigated by first principle simulation, and a new mechanism of quantum confinement was presented. Based on the orbital intercoupling, the orbital engineering is proposed to enhance the hole confinement and radiative emission rate.
