HEIDELBERG, Germany, March 30, 2021 — Photolithography company Heidelberg Instruments Mikrotechnik GmbH acquired Multiphoton Optics, a solution provider for 3D lithography via two-photon polymerization. The companies made the announcement in a shared press release. Following the completion of negotiations, Multiphoton Optics has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Heidelberg Instruments. The merger strengthens Heidelberg Instruments’ position in the micro-optics sector.
The move, said Konrad Roessler, CEO of Heidelberg Instruments, specifically closes a gap between conventional laser lithography, which he said is the basis of Heidelberg’s core business, and the nanostructuring technology that the company added to the Heidelberg Instruments Nano Division three years ago.
