Rubicon grant for Jochem Vink

Jochem Vink (Bionanoscience) has received a Rubicon grant from NWO, which enables him to gain research experience at a leading institute abroad. His research will be about useful fungi attracting pathogens. He was awarded the coveted grant along with 21 other researchers who recently received their PhDs.

Below more information on the research project of Jochem Vink:   Topic: Useful fungi living in plant roots attracting harmful pathogens 

What? The soil contains many microbes that can be both useful and harmful to plants. In this research project biologists investigate to what extent useful symbiotic fungi might also lead to the attraction of pathogens. This research can help in combating Phytophthora, a very important plant pathogen of crops and trees.
